Dental Veneers are super thin custom-made shells of teeth-colored material designed to cover the front of an affected tooth to improve its appearance. Veneers are most often made of porcelain and are custom-fitted to each tooth. Veneers are a common means of fixing teeth that need slightly chipped, discolored, or gapped teeth compared to surrounding teeth.
First, your dentist shaves down the front of the affected tooth and slightly roughens the surface. The veneer is then trimmed and placed over the roughened surface, and attached with a special composite adhesive. The veneer is then polished and trimmed to exactly match the other teeth around it. Veneers are a great alternative to porcelain dental crowns.
